Challenges!
Challenges! is an innovative therapeutic adventure program designed to give participants the opportunity to discover that they have within themselves the ability to succeed. Available for youth through adults, Challenges! programming consists of up to eight sequential phases, utilizing group interaction to propel participants through cooperatives, initiatives, goal setting, processing, climbing, ropes courses, camping, backpacking and service learning.

Adventure / Play Therapy

Programs such as "Survivors!" Or "Knights in the Forest", are therapeutic programs designed to meet the specific needs of younger treatment populations in a way that is non threatening and fun, and engages their creativity and imaginations as well as their energy. These and other play therapy programs offered by The Adventure Centre are designed and facilitated to attain the following goals: assist participants in exploring their opportunities for personal growth; attain participants' treatment goals, identify their strengths, and help them to find positive ways in which to relate to one another. Adventure or play therapy programming is ideal for younger or emotionally/ mentally impaired participants.

Service Learning / Time Out!
This innovative program provides students and their schools with an alternative to traditional disciplinary action, and includes experiences in community service, personal reflection, and dialogue. Students provide community service at our site while contemplating their strengths, their connections, their power sources, and their choices. This time of service and contemplation provides students with the opportunity to reflect on where they have come from, what they value, where they want to go, and what choices they are currently making to propel them towards or away from their goals.

Reaching for Our Future
This multi-faceted program is designed to assist participants of the Challenges! program with their transition from high school into the world of higher education and/or employment. Students are trained to work with the Intervention team as paid mentors for Challenges! program participants. Since fear of the unknown is often a compelling force at this stage, students will also take an introductory college course at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, which is intended to help students learn valuable skills and information relative to college success. Finally, students participate in a therapeutic group, addressing issues such as goal setting, anxiety, self esteem, and follow through.
