Adventure Centre Suggested Equipment List
Summer (June - August)

The Adventure Centre has no indoor space and limited covered space to retreat from the elements. Many of our activities are appropriate during a rain shower. Being prepared for wet and cold and being surprised with sunny and mild is the preferred way to spend a day here at ACPL. Clients should be prepared to spend the entire program outside.

In the event that participants arrive at ACPL improperly prepared to deal with low temperatures or rain safely, ACPL staff will consult with the client to determine cancellation or rescheduling the program.

Weather in West Michigan can change rapidly. Listen to the forecast for the day of your program and plan accordingly.

Participants who require the use of inhalers, epi-pens, or other form of medication must bring those items with them on the day of the program.

Footwear:

Hiking boots: A good option for summer programming. If it is wet or threatening rain, please use a wool sock.
Athletic shoe: On many summer days an athletic shoe provides all one would need. If it is raining, please consider an extra pair of socks.
Clothing: Dress in layers. Bring some extra clothing.
Loose fitting and comfortable. Any type of pant or shorts are acceptable. Please bear in mind that you will be in the woods for the majority of the day and a long pant provides more protection.

Sweaters: Wool or synthetic fleece are the best options. Cotton sweatshirts or other heavy cotton options are good unless they get wet.

Coat: A poncho, Rain coat, or a other shell is well worth bringing. If it is cold: an insulated water resistant coat or a water proof/resistant shell over a good layering of clothing are suggested.

Other suggestions that will enhance your experience:

Sunscreen, insect repellent, and camera.
Bring along a back pack to carry an extra pair of socks, and a warm layer.
Bring along a water bottle that you can refill at any of our wonder full well heads.
